Q) Multi-part checks will no longer feed on my older HE machine, they slip on the platen, why?
A)
As the platen gets older cleaning only restores proper operation for short period of time. As the platens compound ages it gets harder, and glazed. It is not as porous as when new, therefore the platen (Part # HE3200011) assembly will need to be replaced to restore proper feeding of the multi-part check. Contact your local Authorized Hedman Distributor to perform this procedure.

Q) I just installed a new ribbon, now the print head stalls, how do I remedy this?
A)
Check to be sure that you replaced the ribbon with a Genuine “OKI” ribbon. (Part # HE31184) The “GENERIC” replacement ribbons do not contain a lubrication system, placing an additional amount of torque on the spacer motor, causing it to stall on multi-part checks.

Q) Upon powering up my Hedman HE checkwriter, or after a transaction, it calls for me to print and clear totals. How do I do this, and why does this come up on my display?
A)
The HE series of Hedman check writers are programmed to store 500 transactions in the buffer. When the buffer is full it must be cleared out by printing a report and clearing totals before any checks or money orders can be processed. See instructions below.
