Q) What causes double feeding and missed endorsements, and what can be done to prevent this?
A)
Maladjustment of the separator:

  1. Turn machine off and open the cover.
  2. Empty the hopper of checks.
  3. Loosen the large black knob on the Paper Stop and lift the Separator Assembly up slightly.
  4. Place one check under the separator stones and on top of the feed rolls.
  5. Loosen the knob and slide the Separator Assembly down to the top of the check. Tighten the knob while applying slight downward pressure. Check by pulling the check back out of the feed hopper. It should come out, but with noticeable effort.
Q) What is the best way to load various sized checks?
A) See following:
  1. First, justify the checks so that they are all stacked in the same manner. If there are various sizes of checks to be run in a single batch, jog them flush to the operator side of the feed hopper and forward with lead edges against the paper stop. Shape the stack of checks so that the bottom is closest to the paper stop. Flatten wrinkled checks as best you can.
  2. Snug the side Guide to the pile of checks. Do not get it too tight as it will pinch the stack of paper and interrupt feeding.
  3. If the Power is off, turn it on, install the Catch Tray if necessary and press the Feed Switch. Pieces should move through the machine. They will not be endorsed.
  4. Adjust the Feed Gap (see Double feed) if pieces double or use the wedge and/or weight (see Advanced Feeding) if pieces fail to feed.
  5. Clear the paper path, load the unprinted pieces in the hopper and press the Print switch. Turn on the feed and imprinting begins. Note: the machine will not shut down when empty, turn the Feed Switch off at the end of a batch and turn all switches off at the end of the run.

  4. Cover not closed
  5. Activate feed switch, red light will be on
  6. Blown fuse – replace with a time delay 5mmx20mm, 3.15 amp
  7. Check is inside the paper path – remove check and close cover
