Q) What causes double feeding, missed endorsements and how can this be corrected?
A)
Incorrect adjustment of retarder assembly ADJUSTING THE RETARDER STONES: If checks are slipping through the retarder and are not getting signed or endorsed, turning the stone slightly so a “new” surface contacts the documents greatly improving feeding. NOTE: Only loosen the knob enough to allow the bracket to be moved upward to allow adjustment.

Q) How do I prevent documents from jamming as they exit the machine?
A) A helper wheel kit is now available for the DI-100 cut sheet signer. It improves the feeding of documents through the machine, and reduces jamming. This may be necessary when humid or dry conditions cause documents to jam before exiting the machine. The helper wheel kit is easily mounted to the signature shaft, to the left of the plate holder. The kit comes complete with mounting instructions, and all necessary parts. Part Number for the kit is # 7P1410 and is available from your local Hedman Distributor.

Q) My forms are skewing. How do I fix it?
A) Adjust the left and right paper guides and lock into position.

Q) The imprint is very light
A) Adjust or replace the ink roll.

Q) The signs are in the wrong area
A) You have activated the wrong memory imprint location.

Q) How many imprints will an ink roll last for?
A) Normally 150,000 imprints, depending on the area of engraving. Ink rolls degrade with age, it is important to note that running 25,000 imprints/year does not mean the ink roll will last six years.

Q) How do I clean ink off of a painted machine area?
A) See the following steps:

  1. Clean with lemon extract on a rag and wipe down
  2. Clean with WD-40 on a rag and wipe down, can also clean plate with WD-40
  3. Clean with 409 or any other common household cleaner on a rag and wipe down
  4. Clean with citrus cleaners on a rag and wipe down

Q) Fibers of paper dust are on my signature plates, how do I clean them off?
A)
Clean with isopropyl alcohol on a rag and wipe down.
